The second-generation Ultimate Spider-Man comes from the reimagined Marvel Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610). The inheritor of the Spider-Man moniker is Miles Morales, the thirteen-year-old son of an African American father and Puerto Rican mother. Like the original Spider-Man, Miles is bitten by a spider that escaped from a laboratory, but Miles has different aspirations than Peter Parker. After witnessing Spider-Man’s death, Miles believes his own hesitation and weakness are to blame for Spider-Man’s demise. Fortunately, Gwen Stacy is able to convince Miles to recognize his abilities and responsibilities. The world needs someone to assume the mantle of Spider-Man, and that person is Miles Morales!
